Everything You Need to Create Your Best Portfolio
Powerful AI-driven tools that analyze, optimize, and transform your portfolio into a standout document.
Everything you need to ship a sharper portfolio
Portfolio Mentor is built around a single idea: the portfolio is the easiest part of an application to fix, and the most useful feedback you can get on it is specific, page-cited, and calibrated to your candidate level. Everything below exists for that reason.
What the review actually scores
Every upload is read against ten weighted categories. A number on its own changes nothing, so each category comes back with the pages that earned it and the single change most likely to move it:
- Concept and narrative. Whether each project states a problem and answers it, rather than presenting images in sequence.
- Graphic identity. One visual system holding across every spread, not three competing ones.
- Technical drawing. Line weight hierarchy, scale cues, and drawing completeness, which reviewers register before they judge taste.
- Diagramming. Whether a diagram carries an argument or decorates the page.
- Rendering. Image quality, and more importantly whether each render is doing a job no other image on the spread does.
- Typography and layout. Grid discipline, hierarchy, and legibility at the size a reviewer actually reads.
- Project selection. The range and order of the work, and what the opening project signals about the roles you want.
- Process. Visible evidence of how the work developed, not only the finished image.
- Career positioning. Whether the book reads as aimed at the studios and programs you are actually applying to.
- Production quality. Page count, export settings, file size, and proofing, the errors that get a strong candidate filtered out on a technicality.
How the score is banded
Scores map to six bands, and the band matters more than the number. Two portfolios can sit four points apart and still need entirely different work.
| Score | Band | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| 90 to 100 | Exceptional | Competitive anywhere; the remaining notes are refinements, not fixes. |
| 80 to 89 | Strong | Ready to send, with one or two spreads holding it back. |
| 70 to 79 | Solid | The work is there; presentation and sequencing are costing you the difference. |
| 60 to 69 | Developing | A clear structural problem, usually project selection or narrative. |
| 50 to 59 | Incomplete | Key categories have no evidence yet, often technical drawing or process. |
| Below 50 | Early stage | Too early to send; the review returns a build order rather than edits. |
Calibrated to your level
A second-year student and a senior architect are not read against the same bar, so the review is scored against the level you select: undergraduate student, graduate student, new graduate, junior with nought to two years, mid-level with three to five, and senior with six or more. The same set of spreads can score Developing as a mid-level submission and Strong as an undergraduate one, and the feedback changes with it.
Where to look next
To see the process end to end, read how the review runs from upload to action plan. To see the scoring applied to real submissions, the before-and-after review gallery shows starting scores, final scores, and the changes in between.
